Draining fuel tank...?

Hello...

Is there any quick way to drain a full fuel tank from an Evo 8...?
Other than going through the fuel pump entry...

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Regards,
Phoenix

Thats good advice to disconnect the battery. I usually do that too and make sure no one lights a cig around me

You can probably get a metric to hose barb fitting to help out. Other wise, the fuel wants to run across the bottom of the tank making it a PITA to catch it in a container.

and it likes to pull off the undercoating on the bottom of the tank so you may want to grab a can of this to respray it when your done draining and the fuel dries

This is the only way I know how to do it;
http://www.evotuners.net/forums/f25/...-gas-tank-172/

Pull and plug the retun line and attach a section of hose into a container.

Thanks for your reply guys.
Much appreciated!

This gas tank bolt easily accessible from underneath the car...?

@ turbolarry...

I think your method will work best...
In the process of pulling out the motor...
Plenty room within engine bay now...

Just don't want to fuel to age in the tank, and cause issues once rebuild is done...

You dont even have to jack the car up to drain the tank using the drain bolts. Its by far the easiest way.

Agreed

Just get a fitting other wise the fuel goes every where. I THINK it is 10mm x 1.25 but I could check tonight as mine is already empty.

ok , ive used both ways to drain fuel ,
1. Safety first
2. Bolt underneath , really took all the fuel i had in the tank ...
3. the fuel line in the motor ... took fuel out , but still left fuel in my tank
4. play it safe =)

There's actually two bolts on the bottom of the fuel tank. One for each side of the tank. If I remember correctly, if you run the tank almost to the point of being empty, the majority of the fuel will be on the driver's side. Last time I did it, I think I still got a small amount of fuel from the passenger side as well.

Can I go through the passenger side tank in the car under the bakc seat, or do I need to relieve pressure there as well
