The turbos have similar capabilities, I ran a guy at the track that had the same mods as me except a black and he ran the same trap at the time (128). I am just a standard 35R though, a 3586 is a whole other story.
As far as longevity goes, I can't speak for the black, but I have had this 35R on my car the last 80K miles and it is still running fine. I won't upgrade to the 3586 until my block is buit, as I am already pushing the limits.

To Build your block , if the bore has enough there still all you need to do is remove the head , oil pan passenger front wheel, and you could just fit new pistons and rods assuming you know how to line hone to get the correct piston to wall clearance for the pistons you go with. > rod through block / or metal chunks smashed between head possibly. Good luck.

No I think it is a valid comparison because aloto f people are bolting on the FPBlack which specs wise is like a 35r shoehorned into a stock frame housing instead of going 35R/6262 for cost/spool/response.
I think seeing a comparison between the 2 would have people thinking differently then it sounds. The cost of a FPBlack and stock frame tubular mani and a 6262 tubular kit is pretty close.

Ive owned a Black and now have a full race hta 3586.... would not compare them by any means. The car is a completely different monster on the 3586. IT does spool a little slower but hits and pulled through the power band so much smoother especially up top! Be careful with your horse power goals theres many tuners out there that will tune it too aggressive to reach your power goals.

$800 core charge?? Think I paid $1500 to replace my 4G63 block, when I killed it. That's just for the new empty block BTW. If you got the loot why play around with a stock framed turbo? Sure fully built engine, E85 strung out the black can make 5-600, but for how long before you kill it? BB 35r variant will make that on lower boost then crank it up and make closer to 700. Also like others have said the lower torque band of the Black is more likely to kill the block. The more TQ you make before 5252 the harder it is on the engine. The stock framed turbo's are not meant to push 30+psi all day long, its out of there efficiency range. My .02 cents.
