I have evo 8 MR
I have planing to upgrade my 6 speed transmission to stage 4 5 speed trans (rebuild and convert 6 speed to 5speed) I saw the TRE transmission website can do it start some around 1400 bucks
so my question is can I use my stock 6 speed shift(surround shift , cable , etc all stock 6speed) to 5 speed trans?

no you have to get a five speed cables and such.Search on how to sections has been done many times.

 

I just finished coverting my evo ix mr from a 6 to 5 speed, you need 5 speed trans & motor mount, shifter base and cables,wiring harness for the trans, you might need a new trimplate which is the piece on the center console that says "EVOLUTION MR" unless you trim it down a bit you can reuse it . hope that helps

 

motor mount? is it different 6 speed motor mount and 5 speed motor mount ?
i think motor(engine) mount same between 5 speed and 6 speed
does it transmission mount by any chance?

 

All the other motor mounts are the same between a 5 speed and 6 speed evos, the only one that's different is the one that goes on the trany which is completely different , you need a 5 speed transmission motor mount if you are converting from 6 to 5 speed.

 

if i convert 6 speed to 5 speed ( remove 1 speed from 6 speed tranny internal)
do i still need tranny mount ? does the tranny housing different between 5 speed and 6 speed tranny ?
does it same durability as original 5 speed tranny after convert internal (remove 1gear)?

 

how about you take my 5 speed and ill take your 6 speed? my 5 speed needs to be sent out anyways it pops out of 5th gear... so it would be perfect for you and most likely cheaper! lmk
