Lightbulb Factory boost cut????

In 4th and 5th gear when i floor it with the XEDE, i hit like 23 psi sometimes and it only drops to 20, sometimes the car jerks hard back and makes a backfire type noise then goes back to normal, someone said it was a boost cut?? anyone else have this problem???

I just experienced that problem last night, but my EVO is stock. I experienced in 5th gear, the needle was climbing but it was not smooth it was shaking back and forth. I was on WOT, so i'm assuming its a boost cut,

Yes you are correct, boost cut comes into play about 20 - 21 psi in 5th on a stock car without running any fuel management. Otherwise alot of people are seeing it becuase of the colder weather. Cooler air will cause the turbo to spool up with less rpms because the air is thicker then the ECU cuts the fuel off basically saying your car is overboosting. The best solution of this is to get a new map for your Exede which I am sure is already out or get a EBC of some sort to keep it from hitting anything over 20 psi unless you have some ARP hardware just to be on the safe side.

When you hit boost cut your car will feel like the motor shuts off then back on very quickly. You will know if this is it. If the boost is going up and down with no misfire feeling it is the stock ECU correcting your boost, this is normal but it sucks becuase the stock ECU doesn't do a good job of managing it unless it is reflashed.

Super AFC2?

I was considering running as much as 23psi to redline, but this post makes me want to reconsider that. When you say fuel management, I assume you dont mean a Super AFC, because I dont know of any way a Super AFC can trick the car into thinking its only running 20psi.

Is this true? If so, it sounds like a damn fine argument to pitch the Super AFC and go with a reflash.

Curious.

Al isn't kidding. I have one of his reflashes and run 22psi with my MBC. I don't run into fuel cut and don't have erratic acceleration. Btw, I think Shiv is now offering a similar reflash for around $100.

ARP stuff would be head studs. To run more than 20 psi it is recommended to use some better headstuds becuase the factory ones are said to streach after a while. SAFC will actually trick the fuel cut alittle bit but not enough unless you have bigger injectors so Dynoflash is a much better option and well worth every penny compaired to the other vendors that ECU reflash. The only reason I know what you are talking about is because I ran into the same problem and I will be shipping my ECU off to dynoflash after christmas to get rid of this. Hitting fuel cut is not a good feeling at all.
