Odd Compression Test EVO 8

Just did a compression test and its 180 150 180 150... We thought maybe timing was off but we tripple checked and its dead on. car does not smoke but it does go through spark plugs very quick. I would imagine with a blown head gasket I would maybe run into an issue with this but Now Im thinking maybe Ive got an issue with my head. Any input would be really appreciated.

^ Been helping this guy all day with this car.

Reading up... and some people report 150 across and others up to 180 across but whats causes you to have 150 on one stroke and 180 on the other?

I'm stumped.

Do a comression test again but put a table spoon full of oil into the cyl that are at 150psi. If compression jumps up quite a bit its your rings on your pistons. If not its more than likely your valves. Then if you want to check that you will need to build a cyl pressure tester so that your able to pump air into the cyl at top dead center on each of your low compression cyl. You will need to test this when the cyl is at the top dead center of the compression stroke and the exhaust stroke. If your valves are bad you will get a massive amount of air from the exhaust when you test your exhaust side of your exhaust valves are bad and the same goes for your intake side too with the intake vlaves. Also when you do this you could hear bubbles from your coolant radiator or overflow tank. This would mean you have a head gasket problem. Also same thing if your get air coming out of your dipstick!....... Cross your fingers.... BTW what color are your spark plugs when you pull them. DO they all look the same or are the ones in the 150psi cyl different?

I think when ZanarkO gets anouther day off we'll do that.

Just seems odd how uniformed it is... its 180 on the dot, and 150 on the dot on both the cylinders from the same stroke.

From left to right its 150, 180, 150, 180 and it just seems too perfect for a normal wear and tear issue.

* preform at your own risk *

You can drop a lil trans fluid down the lowest compression cyl. of your choice. A LITTLE BIT. Then preform the compression test again. If your number stay the same your issue is not w/ the engine block.

I know I am bringing back from the dead....but did you ever discover what the problem was? I have nearly the exact compression numbers.
