TRE Rear Diff service experiance / review

After doing some reading here and talking to a friend that had a cusco diff in his old evo I decided to get an upgraded rear.

My problem : I was tired of all the under-steer, especially on nt01's vs street tires.

My car setup:
Evo 9 MR
358whp 352tq on FFtec mustang Dyno (similar to gst)
Re valved MR bilsteins to match GTworx springs with Cusco camber plates
255 40 17 nt01s
stock sway bars

Story:
well I got fed up with the under steer so i decided to get an upgraded Differential.
I first heard of this service being done by TRE, but after doing some more reading I found that there were other places that did work similar to JOn's max lock service, however after talking to a few of those people Jon seemed the most knowledgeable and so I wanted him to do the work.

Long story short, Jon is a one man operation which is both a good and bad thing, in my case there was a mix up but Jon got it squared away and I am more then happy with what he did for me to make up for it.

NOW ABOUT THE DIFF SERVICE ITS SELF

I received the Diff and it looked great, it looked nice and clean.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

after putting it in the car and breaking it in (couple figure 8's circles left and right and avoid highway driving for first 40ish miles)
I decided to try and have some fun with it. It was raining and man was it fun!
I tried sliding the car in the rain before but I found it rather difficult to both start a slide and maintain one. With the diff however it was power over steer on demand

AT THE TRACK
well this is summed up best by my e-mail to Jon

JON,

OMFG I love you!

I couldn't believe it, first session out I destroyed my Personal best at the track by 3 seconds! next session I picked up another second! for a total of 4 seconds shaved off!

Honestly I feel like I'm cheating compared to the other Evo's out there....My lines were NOT the best lines I've ran, i was making rookie mistakes here and there but with your MAX lock in the rear of my car it was impossible not to do good.

theres still some getting used to that seat time will solve and my suspension is still too soft ...although I'm going to stick with it for a bit longer

Thanks again!
before I got the diff my concerns were that maybe the over steer would be too much or that it just wouldn't make a big enough difference. Both these things turned out to be untrue, the amount of power over steer is perfect and its easy to control. i also picked up time at the track without even trying

below is a video of me at the track....I made several mistakes but some how still managed my personal best time.

Bottom line:
if you think your evo under steers too much...get this mod
if you wish the evo was more RWD like...get this mod
if you want to do stupid stuff like drifting and cyclones in parking lots...get this mod
if you want a bullet proof diff...get this mod

sorry for grammar spelling and formatting problems...as I'm actually quite too lazy to proof read this before posting....I will add some pics later.

I hope this will steer more people toward getting upgraded rear LSD's as its really the best mod I've done.

*****edit****
I also forgot to add that usually my front passenger tire gets eaten up ....after the Diff tire wear seems very close to equal!

I have the 12 plate MAX LOCK rear diff from TRE too and it's getting installed this week. Granted, I cannot drive the car for another 2 months or so, but I'm very excited to test it out! Jon is an awesome guy and I thoroughly enjoy working with him and our LONG conversations. A+ Highly recommended!

Seems Like an Excellent Buy. What else is requied in your drivetrain to take full advantage of this rear diff?
What other modifications are needed for the tcase and transmission?

I had a friend do the install...he did it in 2 hours.

No other changes to your drive train are required.

everything cost me $710 with shipping and new bearings ..i also got the Oil sight glass

if anything is wrong with the diff it will obviously cost you more to fix it
