Question Evo 8 10 PSI???

Hello All,
I am kinda stumped I have had turbo cars in the past so I am pretty familiar with all systems. Here is my question I recetly got an evo 8 that has some light mods, intake, 3" exhaust turbo back, cam gears (how ever not tuned, they are at stock settings currently), and a Tial BOV. Here is my issue since I got the car about three weeks ago it has not seemed as fast as it should so I added a boost gauge to see if I was boosting fully; I had previously had the gauge on my S4. I installed the same gauge I had on the s4 so I am confident how to install with no leaks and I am confident the gauge worked correctly. Once I installed the gauge it reads approx -16 hg for vac but under full load only goes to about 11psi at most? I have a boost leak tester and have no boost leaks that I can tell.... I have not yet data logged the car as I am waiting for my tactric cable and 3bar maf sensor. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you're on the stock boost solenoid you are in some kind of limp mode. If you have a mbc you have it turned all the way down or have the hoses backwards.

You live in Colorado I see , Did you buy the car out of state? I say this because having different elevations will sometimes put a car into limp mode until you pull the battery cable and reset the cpu. This happened to my buddies sti.

Pull the battery cable for 3 mins then try again.

It is the stock boost solenoid, and yes I purchased it in Colorado. However I got it from an auction and the ecu was not reading to the tach so the auction house had to order a new ecu and install it in the car. The car was owned in Colorado. Ill try the battery tonight when I get off work.

Brand new cat and 02 sensor. Boost pill in place all hoses routed correctly ( I should have noted this on my first post).

sounds like you only boosting off the stock wastegate spring pressure, which is only 11 psi

riceball is correct. You are likely missing the factory restrictor pills in the vaccum lines. Look on your hood for the diagram.

The previous owner probably had a MBC that he wanted to keep or sell, so he removed it and put the solenoid back on, minus the restrictor pills.

Go down to your local Mitsu dealership and purchase part # MN 143555. This is the factory boost/vacuum hose assembly and includes the two(not one) restrictor orifices, the proper "T", and all the needed hose clamps. Install the new factory hose assembly and then get back to us.

Postscript: I would also swap out the Tial BOV for a factory metal MR DV. That's just me though.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.. So last night I tried the battery thing didnt work (thought that was too easy). Also I rechecked all connections no leaks. So I can clarify I pulled the vac lines from the boost solenoid, the restricter pill seems to be in place it should be about an inch or two down the vac line comming off the solenoid to the waste gate correct? I can feel a lunp in the vac line like its a restrictor pill. I will however go and get another.

I think you are correct that I am only running off the stock wastegate spring as the max boost does not go above 11psi what so ever. Is it possible I have a bad solenoid? BTW the intake seems to be a no name I have a K&N filter stock MAF sensor and stainless tubing before and after the sensor. I completely agree with the MR DV I aboulutely hate the Turbo XS unit... Too loud makes me feel like a punk ricer .
