I am interested in putting on a 3 inch turbo catback system and was wondering if there is any serious or notable gains? Please tell me what you have felt, any serious difference?Please include dyno #s if you have them. This is alot to spend on an already 30k evo. What muffler is best for sound and flow ect...? Thanks for your help. Drive hard!

Which one? A turbo back is different from a cat back. Why don't you search? This has been discussed 123,543 times. I checked.

You possibly could loose some TQ and HP if you do it without adjusting the A/F.
I know there have many people try these options . Try a search I'm sure you will be able to pull up a lot of info on all ways to go.

I totally agree with MYEVOVIII on this one. You would definitely lose some hp/torque if you upgrade to free flowing d/p, cat delete, cat back exhaust at the same time. The exhaust note would be louder but that's about it. You will phsyologically feel an increase in power due to the agressive exhaust note but you ain't. Even the intake does not really help that much at this stage. Leaving the factory intake system intact is wise. Definitely get an SAFCII to re-tune the A/F to get those mods to life. Since you are in the U.S you probably should go to Buschur for their SAFCII preset tuned which looks to be very popular with a lot of the members here.

The evo8 exhaust system is proven to be a very restrictive part of the car and dyno's have shown up to 25whp freed from a 3" turboback. Having a 3" exhaust also helps spoolup tremendously. This has been discussed a tremendous amount of times.

I have a friend who drives an exact same mod car except his is with the stock airbox and mine with the apex open intake type. You'll only draw more hot air with my setup and it shows on the dyno. The dyno also registers a lower intake temperature for the stock airbox compared to my car. With bigger mods (bigger turbos, cams) maybe you'll definitely see a difference due to the restrictions. But then again maybe umiami knows better. The best thing is to try it out for yourself and see what your catback or turboback gives you. Cheers !

hmmmm, car is NOT MOVING on a dyno, no cool air hitting the IC (which BTW kinda COOLS HOT AIR) car kinda relys on 60MPH air cooling the radiator, IC, Intake, and the fan is not gona come close, so you pop the hood while you do this but still real driving is better.
Stock intake is just that, STOCK, it has a Tiny inlet that may very well suck in cooler air, although it is blocked by weather stripping. That inlet is now where near the volume capable with just a cheapo PB filter. Then that cooler air is heated to whatever the EGTs are (mine are near 900C) and then cooled off by the IC.
And even IF sucking in really hot air was a problem, as you move down the road, the Evo is designed to suck in air real low, and blow it up through the Hood vent, and BTW, My Intake incorporates BOTH teh Cold air stock design, a heat sheild, and a big K&N filter to allow MASS air to get sucked in un ubstructed. Bets of both worlds.
Now you put on an intake, and MASSIVELY increase the volume of air the turbo has access to to suck in, less restriction, more volume of air=leaner condition, faster spoolup, and more power. DP allows mass exhaust to be belted out, faster spool, and more AIR to be pumped through the engine, more air, more power (tuned of course)
I do not car if you spend $5,000 on a Kia Sephia or $1,200,000 on a Mclaren F1, the engines are EXACTLY the same in that they are Air pumps, they pump in air, compress it, add fuel, ignite, release energy, repeat, you cram in more air, and fuel, more power.
Just how its done.
