Synchronic BOV ftw agreed. Thats why my HKS SSQV is sitting in a box in my basement somewhere as well. What fuel/motor are you running for your numbers Aaron?

Well maybe for the extra spool the HKS is worth but it almost always gets outperformed by the BBK. It has yet to put out comparable numbers. Most well setup BBK are putting out 20+ whp on pump and almost double that on e85. More then a few BBK have broken 500whp and none have in the HKS if I recall. Either one makes good power and spools quick. Saying a BBK is laggy is really a relative term because it spools like stock but makes more power than the HKS. To each their own...for that cam/turbo special it was a deal though.

I researched the BBK-Full and HKS GTII quite a bit. In summary, the BBK-Full tends to have a fatter torque/hp curve and more room to grow power-wise. The HKS GTII is smaller and BB, so it tends to spool up earlier and probably faster. Depending on the need, these are two very good turbos. No need to diss one or the other.

Which BBK turbo breaks 500WHP?

This one, the BBK Full. On my car on a Dynojet it should be somewhere around 520whp. Figuring the same power difference of when I took my Green equipped car from Tym Switzer's Dynojet to Pure Tuning's Mustang dyno just 1 hour away - the car should now hit between 515 and 530 on Tym's Dynojet.

Just to complete the power picture between the three does the BBK Lite use the same compressor as the Full but with a std TD05 turbine ?

Cheers A .

Just reading what I found on HKS's own website bro. If companies like almighty HKS (and they are a great company, I'm not trying to be a smart *** here) threw on all those parts listed on their website and only managed to put down 375 hp? Pardon my naivety but that sounds kinda week considering the companies tuning reputation and price point on parts. Heck that's only 50 more hp than I'm putting down, I can match that with a change in gas. And you are right, I have zero experience with that turbo. I bet build quality and spool are fantastic but making comments like, "the BBK feels laggy" "or you are half way to the perfect turbo".....c'mon man. Call me crazy but I would gladly sacrifice a couple hundred revs for more power and a fatter torque curve. And I'll stand by my original statement that the HKS turbo sounds awfully close in comparison to the BBK lite no? Faster spool than stock? About the same bump in power on 93?

I was just making observations based on what is quickly available on Google man didn't mean to sound pompous or HKS bash.

oh I'm sure of it man, just giving a quick response to what HKS states on the website, I'm sure they are great turbos giving both companies R&D dedication! I've thrown this off topic enough, sorry mods!

+1... I too came up on a sweet deal on a GTII when my FP Red went down. I am pushing 400+ HP with this or at least I did on a DynoJet on a 90 degree afternoon in Orlando Jus Sayin. And even though I recently got my Red back and it's all ready to go I am curious to see how much farther I can go with say... an E-85 tune. But in that same breath I have read on here that people are having howling and other such issues with these but as we all know no turbo is without flaws. Also with my HKS SSQV Recirc BOV I do have that friggin chatter at part throttle but for my first ball bearing experiance I think the GTII awesum for a stock frame turbo! Maybe I will try a 35R next

Updated original posts a bit.

Just to clarify - I specifically said that for MY needs - I felt the CBRD BBK Full is perfect. YMMV. Maybe you need faster spool and less top end. (I challenge anyone to show a graph of a stock bottom end that makes more than 330ft# @ 3350rpm on a Mustang dyno) Maybe you can give up some spool if you get more top end. That's for each person to decide. All I know is that I am 100% satisfied and I know I made the right choice for me. I am SO thankful that Chad/CBRD wanted to be a part of my racing endeavors this year.

Here are some pics of the turbo right before it went on the car. . .

EVOlutionary is my hero. So, if it works for his application then I would run it as well. This is not some newbie going ecstatic. This guy drives!

The BBK probably has a bit more topend than the HKS 7460. It probably has slightly lower exhaust backpressure and lower EGT's as well.

All I know is that the FP Red and Black are configured with the same exact turbine wheel. But, you probably already knew this. Take care.

BBK-Lite is configured with a stock-sized Mitsu 16G turbine wheel.
