+++^^^1 Best way to say it. and for those missing the HKS power potential and their seach button isn't working-- Here is the thread. 400hp all day long.

Looks like I made the right choice by going with a bbk full.

Mine made 500whp a few times.

Theres a good thread on here too comparing R/Ternie's HKS turbo against my BBK turbo. Different cars but similar mods, etc etc.

^^ as stated. The HKS and the BBK dyno graphs literally overlay on top of each other.

I've owned the OG Green (same as one in this thread) and the HKS 7460 (currently on the car) The difference between the two is night and day. I think the OG Green is a turd... and probably isn't worth its breath for a comparison against anything except maybe an Evo 8 turbo.

The HKS IMO... is very similar to the BBK, except that the BBK doesn't have surge issues and the BBK has a bigger (more power potential) turbine housing. I made 488 DJ hp with the HKS last year, and I plan to run the HKS versus the BBK when I finish my 2.2L (who knows when that'll happen!)

The HKS surging is something I REALLY dislike...and I'd like it to make over 500... BOTH things the BBK can do. The transient response may not be the same, but I think CBRD is always working to improve previous designs and I'm looking forward to the future developments of BBK lineup.

My 2 cents. I think a good comparison would be the HTA Green, BBK, and the HKS 7460. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot this winter

R/TErnie you read my mind. i want to see both of these turbo's compared to the HTA Green. comparing them to the OG Green is worthless IMO. that turbo is over 6 years old and hasnt been produced in well over 2 years. lets keep the comparisons up to date. and i know your the man that can do it.

and for OP, great write up! maybe too much info lol nah never enough. maybe i missed it, but jw what is your mods?

I am starting to get a little bored already with my power level. Only had the BBK Full on since late March but it is just what I was looking for. Great gains with some room to grow (I'm still on stock clutch, studs, HKS 272s), and while I do feel it is noticeably less responsive than a stock 8 turbo (depsite what most say) it is such a small difference that the extra power is totally worth it. Kelfords, some ported stuff on the intake side, studs, clutch and 28psi are next for me. Hoping to get into the 420s on hp and add quite a bit more torque.

imo this wasn't a very fair comparison of the cbrd bbk against the orginal green. Cbrd is a awsome company from what I see and does great work but how can you compare a turbo that cbrd designed its bbk off of?? Its no secret that they designed there bbk off the green to improve it. Its just not a fiar comparison how about comparing it to the new htagreen not a 7 year old turbo.

I don't think CBRD designed their turbo off the green... that's a pretty slanted comment... nor are the turbos similar in dimension. the HTA Green, BBK, AND the HKS are all very similarly sized. And given that the BBK was the first released out of that bunch...it would behoove us to notice who's following who.

To the OP, great numbers and great write up! I really want to see your numbers around 28-29-30 psi. Should hit 500... Or damn close to it.

Don't both the HKS and FP units have upgraded compressor covers? I know the BBK and BBK-B have the OEM comp cover.

I'm sure the BBK flows enough for a 2.2 but do you think the HKS will run out of steam at the top end?

Honestly the response is so good on the BBK-Full that I will probably go to a larger turbo for my 2.3L build. I don't know if the BBK will be breathing enough up top with more displacement and higher boost.

Not really there's been post on here of owners taking the fp turbos there for install and tune and the turbos were physically taken apart and measured and this was all before the bbk turbo was ever released. I'm not knocking cbrd the bbk has proven itself I'm just saying I don't think the op comparison was a legit one. Also the op is comparing the orginal fpgreen to the bbk.

What R/TErnie was saying is that the BBK/HTAGreen and HKS are similar in size and of those 3 the BBK was released first. Dont' know if that's true or not. The original Green of course has been around for a long time and was absolutely before any of those 3. That is exactly why this IS a legit comparison that may be useful to those in my shoes. This is for folks who have an old Green or stock turbo who are finally ready to step it up a bit. If you are on a super tight budget - probably not worth the upgrade if it's going to make it hard to pay your bills. But if you have a bit of extra "car cash" I think the upgrade is well worth the price - once again - depending on YOUR needs. It is worth it for MY needs.

Also this review gives the folks who may be trying to decide between buying a used Green or a new BBK some info and points of reference. For me and for MY NEEDS - I would recommend those folks save their $$ a bit longer and and get the BBK.
