BOV Stock

Hey,

first of all i wanna say Merry Christmas to all of the EVOLUTIONM member! God bless!

aite, got a question, how strong can a stock BOV holds? I mean if my mods is exhaust, intake, downpipe...can it hold the boost without leaking or whatsoever?

what if that mods (exhaust, intake, downpipe) plus air fuel controller, boost controller? can it still holds?

maybe some of you were wondering why dont i buy hks or whatever BOV out there? the answer is i do have hks bov but am selling it since im having the stalling problem and was thinking use the money to buy some other mods....

thanks a lot for the input!

The stock BOV has been known to leak at high pressures, so it's always a good idea to upgrade your BOV, maybe HKS or Forge, which is what a lot of people have been doing, and satisfied too! Is your HKS bov recirc or VTA? That will make a difference.. If it's VTA, try to recirc it and test that out for a while.

Before you go waste money on a new BOV, DON'T!!!!

A lot of people I know running up to 21 psi have found the stock BOV to work better than the aforementioned. Once you get to 22+ psi, then it's time to upgrade. This stuff about the stock BOV sucking is nonsense until you are really boosting.

You are the first person I've heard from that has had improvement over the stock BOV. From the 6-7 people I've helped revert back to stock, all of them had some sort of problem (stalling, sputtering, etc.) with an aftermarket BOV. Obviously if you run 23-23 psi, you'll need another BOV, but hopefully a lot of other work will have been done to sustain that boost as well. I'm not being confrontational, just trying to save this guy from having a headache.

Chris,

I am going to return mine back to stock...Do you have any pics of what the stock setup looks like...I didn't install my HKS, so I am not sure what was changed. Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Justin

The one thing I disagree on is that it is not possible to get a VTA to work. It depends on how you adjust it, if you installed it correctly, if you tightened the bolts properly, and if you bought a good brand (some brands suck). Some people still have problems after they go back to stock because they did not install it correctly. Some people get a bad brand and lable the entire catagory of VTA BOV as useless.

SOME OF US HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH VTA BOV!
Do not spread rumors that it is impossible!

I agree with Chris on this:
Stock BOV is fine until you get a boost controller and start raising the boost psi.

I just got a nice blitz BOV VTA and wrote a short review on it:

It's really easy to install. If you want to get your VTA to work i have experience on getting my blitz VTA to work perfectly.

well my stock bov sucked.. so i replaced it and now i'm good.. i'd say if yours leaks..first go make sure all your hoses are tight..if that dosen't work.... change it.. if you get the forge valve make sure you get a tuning kit.. but ultimately changing it or not is up to you..

If you are not VTA and are not having leak problems or stalling or sputtering there isn't much reason to actually go back to stock BOV.
