we run our fp green with the wastegate unhooked and no boost control.

tuned of course at 30+psi on a stock 9 motor making 450whp.

2 years now with no issues

You can do this on the drag strip if you are tuned for race gas/ e85 / meth etc.....

Don't do it otherwise.

40+ psi and stock turbo should never be mentioned in the same sentence. At that point your intake temps are off the chart. It's just too small.

This is going to push your turbo hard but you most likely won't see crazy high psi #'s, the engine is going to be out flowing the turbo. You are going to def be pushing the turbo to it's limits so unfortunately you are going to destroy that turbo. . . . when? i dunno maybe a day maybe a year.

To 03white gsr sorry but you are wrong. In no way will the wastegate open with it being disconnected. For one, the wg opens the opposite direction the spring collapses, so there fore without the wg vacuum line the exhaust pressure would have to pull the spring open before the wg opens, that's why you can adjust them for more preload and get more boost. The pressure seen in the vacuum line to the wg is what pushes the spring together and allows the wg to open
I have disconnected boost lines before and the wastegate still opens at some point due to the wastegate backpressure. You are wrong, and if you chose not to test on your own, that is your choice but I will not argue it further with you.

boost controller connected to wastegate actuator but turned 100% up = not the same thing, but essentially will try to keep all pressure from the wastegate actuator as best as it can.
Agree and disagree as it depends on the boost controller. Some will still leak even when locked down 100%, but not all do. If it is completely sealed, then it will completely block airflow to the actuator and is no different then disconnecting the line.

A GM BCS at 100% duty cycle will fully seal the airflow off and vent the actuator line. LOTS of people on here run the IX turbo at 100% duty cycle from like 6000 RPM on. They typically have it under 100% below there though to limit peak boost.

FWIW, with proper tuning on good fuel and the stock wastegate actuator, I wouldn't be particularly scared of the IX turbo with the line disconnected. It will make over 30 psi, but only briefly. Turbo speed will also be in the range of "reasonable." At least by the standards around here of people running stock blocks to 550+ WHP...

Now a 25 psi actuator can probably sustain some serious turbo shaft speeds that may kill the turbo. Then again, Aaron made like 500 WHP on an IX turbo for like 2 years solid. I imagine shaft speeds were WAY up there...
