Friction modifiers defeat the purpose of restacking the plates. Also, the Diaqueen fluid already has some in it. If you don't like the noise, put the clutches back to stock. This is the exact reason mitsu stacked them wrong in the first place. They didn't want Americans whining about the rear diff being clunky/noisy...

I have been in a 9 with restacked plates, using diaqueen, and no noise. It might be worth having a shop check out your diff to see if anything needs replacing and to check tolerances.

By "flipping" that plate that was put in backwards from the factory, you essentially now have 1 new plate playing with the used plate next to it.

Has anyone had problems getting the Philips head screws out to separate the carrier? I'm close to stripping one and I've even C-Clamped the surrounding holes just in case there was additional pressure on the bolt.

Not sure if there is loctite on there too and the temps have just been too cold in which it needs heat

Just curious, Cheers

I got mine at Harbor Freight or Autozone. I forget which. Cheap, though and REALLY useful.

Yup! It's saved me from many a stripped screw. I bought it to do brake rotors but have used it a million times since.

Kicking an old thread but finally got around to doing this. One of the easiest free mods you can do. I used OEM fluid filling it back up and have zero noise compared to how it was before. Kicking her sideways is a breeze now!

Guys, please forgive me for bringing an old thread back to life...hell this should probably be pinned.

I'm a huge fan of this Mod and have been driving around with it for about 4 years now, I can't even remember what it was like before lol. whatever it was, it was boring.

My question/concern is this, I just bought a USDM 2011 Ralliart which borrows the rear diff from the Evo 9. Does anyone know, at all if it suffers from the same incorrect plate/clutch pattern assembly?

thanks in advance.
