Just a bit of information for anyone that might have this problem in the future, i was cruising down the freeway yesterday and went to exit and pulled the ole Evo 8 out of gear into neutral. Well tried to downshift but realized that it was still in gear, but i only had movement between 3rd and 4th. I burned the clutch the mile to the house and ripped out the center console, but there wasn't anything broken or lose in the shifter so i popped the hood and found that one of the linkages on top the tranny had come loose from the little rubber boot it just slides onto, and into the groove. Hoping it never happens again, but hopefully the info will help a brother down the road.

Yeah was a pain to get the rubber grommet, post whatever you call it back in the cable but i got it with a little lube.
