Flywheel bolt size

I'm trying to remove my flywheel. From the Evomoto website it says its a 17mm, but the socket is too big for the bolt, so when I'm trying to remove the bolt it doesn't grip it too well.

Could anyone help me with this? I don't want to round the bolts.

thanks

Try a smaller socket. They SHOULD be 17mm... Are you sure you're trying to remove the flywheel bolts? There should be 7 of them.

Another idea is unless you're using a Snap-On or MAC socket as they will work, grind down the end of the socket flush with the points as there's not much room the grab the flywheel bolts as they're countersunk into the flywheel. I've ruined/rounded off a lot of flywheel bolts before doing this.

Yea, I'm removing the flywheels bolts.

I'm using my IR impact 17mm socket with my IR gun, its not grabbing anything. I'm gonna try buying a new socket though. I've had this socket set for a while so it might be beat up a bit.

turns out it was just my socket. I borrowed one from my job and it fits the bolts just fine.
