Out of curiousity what would you guys recommend I run? The FP 18 psi or 25 psi? For boost control I'll be using the hallman MBC and I plan to be tuned on e-85, so I'm thinkin' I'll be tuned to 27-29 psi. This is for a stock 9 turbo with a ported hotside. I was searchin' and from what I collected people are saying 18, but with no rationales really. If someone could elaborate...that'd be great.

Forgot to add, I may upgrade the stocker to a black next year..not too sure yet so I guess we can keep that in mind as well.

The 18 pounder will work at the 27 to 29 PSI level with the IX turbo...no problem. If I were going to switch later to the Black then I might just get the 25 pounder and call it a day though. With the Black on E85 you'll be potentially running over 30 to 34 PSI.

Mikey runs the 18 pounder with his Black and likes it I think. So, you may wanna ask him. He has had to tinker with the 18 pounder though as in cutting length off the actuator rod so as to run higher wastegate spring pressure.

Keep in mind that his engine is a 2.4L though. So, there is increased exhaust gas pressure at the flapper valve seat. So he needs to run higher preload than you would on a 2L engine. He might be better off with the 25 pounder now that I think about it.

Decisions, decisions lol thanks for the input dude. I'll probably build the rest of the engine if I go the black route, but I don't plan on stroking it or anything. So I'm thinkin' the 18 psi should be fine. Anyone else got some input?
