Ryu's built motor thread (Sponsored by MAPerformance)

It's been a long hiatus since late October of last year when I broke into the 9 second range with my factory motor. A few days later during cruising one of my factory rods finally gave out after years of 500+whp abuse on a daily basis. Go Mitsu Shortly after I was contacted by Chris Carey, President of MAPerformance, with a sponsorship offer to run their fully built motor setup. I graciously accepted Chris's generous offer. It took a bit of time to gather up the funds for the full build as I did not want to cut any corners or spare any expense but Chris and his team are very patient and easy individuals to work with. I'm happy to say the motor is finally here and ready for assembly. On to some pictures

As you can see, great care was taken for the shipping process. Thanks MAP

I'll be sticking with the hta82 w/.63 hotside for now. I have a goal of 9.7@142mph in mind for this turbo setup that I believe I can reach without too much trouble. Ignition timing at peak boost (38psi) previously was 1 deg advancing to approx: 14 degrees out the top just to give an idea of what should be left in the tune on this turbo setup without the addition of the more efficient flowing head, slightly better cams, and higher compression as well. Once that goal is acomplished, then I'll be stepping up to an hta86 with a 9.3-9.4 @148-150mph goal.

It looks like it is a diversion of the exhaust gases to a straighter path out of the runner vs colliding into each other. Just a guess though.

This would be my reasoning as well.

Thanks Chris. I can't wait to get back out to the drag strip to accomplish my next set of goals. By the looks of the high quality motor work by your company, I don't think it will be too terribly hard to accomplish them.
