The HTA green DBB we have been testing has provided some remarkable results. Its crazy that it seems to come on faster than the journal bearing (at least to me) even if not much.

This doesn't make much sense to me. The turbine wheel must be the same on the BB Black as on the journal bearing Black, as well as the compressor wheel being the same on both Blacks. Otherwise if the BB Black were configured with a different turbine wheel it would no longer be a Black.

I went on FP's website and read their description, but I came away with a different understanding of the new Black than you got from your conversation with Robert. I gathered that both Blacks must be configured with the same compressor and turbine wheels as well as sharing the same turbine and compressor housings.

The only difference must be in the center housing, in addition to the bearings obviously, and the shaft.

Are you talking roughly a 200-400 RPM difference in spoolup?

i think depending on how old his fp black was the turbine wheel wasnt clipped on the old ones, they just recently started doing that. i could be wrong tho.

This would make sense. Incidentally is the turbine wheel on your particular Owens/FP Black, clipped or unclipped? I am just curious because I have been following with interest your posts about shaft speeds and backpressure at higher boost pressures with respect to the Black on your 2.3L car in another thread.

nice they finally have one almost makes you want to upgrade but like blinky stated no reason to to be honest unless somehow you magically blow your turbo

It was around 200 rpm slower than a IX on Luke's car. I'll be making a thread in a bit after I get the go ahead from Robert.

Oh yeah, sure! You are right! He clearly stated that he was testing the BB HTA Green and not the BB Black. Duh, Sparky.
