^ thanks.
Also spoke to Jon a few mins ago. He saw my youtube vid and confirmed it was t case. Wrong fluid, I swapped to motul gear ff 75w140 7k miles ago and he pretty definitively said thats what did it in. He said trans and clutch should be ok but I will get my shop to check it all out.

Update
Had my shop check it out today. The noise was coming from the trans. One of the bearings most likely. The oil had bearing dust in it. The tcase most likely chipped a tooth, there were shards of it on the drain plug.
Yes I KO'd my trans and tcase with one shift.

Update on the drivetrain.
I scrapped my 6spd and am going for a built 5spd. But I decided to ship my tcase and rear diff (nothing wrong with it but I figured why not) to shep for a rebuild. Today Trevor emailed me back saying that the tcase has cracked differential, badly worn R&P gears, and burnt ACD. The rear diff has the wrong lash spec and badly worn R&P gear. The tcase is not salvageable and the rear diff needs new R&P gear.
So not only is this gonna cost me a lot more, but I also have $500 in shipping and customs charges from shipping my piece of **** tcase and rear diff from Canada to shep.

EDIT: And its really fun watching my car sit like this for the past month while taking public transit everywhere. I hate being another evo owner that has their car in the shop more often than on the road.
