^it stands for speed density. Basically you have a sensor that takes the temp of the air, with a map sensor that measures pressure in the intake manifold, compared to a maf, which meters air going through the honey combs, which is heated

SD will work on the stock ECU, and it will fix your low idle problems.
It will smooth it out and the great thing about SD, is that if you blow a IC pipe off your car won't die.

SD is speed density. You remove the maf and use a 4bar sensor and air temp sensor to measure air intake. Some people also use the fuel temp sensor instead of an air temp sensor.

Yep, speed density will work on Stock ECU. 95% of the evo community that is on SD is using the stock ecu

You will prob have to go into your idle tables under ISCV ac on and idle rpm off drive.

How simple is it to do the conversion (finding a map sensor and adjusting the ecu)?
Also would I have to retune the car?

The silicone coupler on my 3.5" intake rubs my tranny a bit. I would assume a 4" ones even more. Anyone confirm?

I don't have a problem on my car with the 5speed... Do you have like a 10ply coupler? lol

The 4" is close to the tranny but not touching.

Could be a 6-speed thing too. Thanks for the input guys! And LOL @ Mikey.. na its just a 3-ply actually, kinda puny. I'll know how it fits on a 5-speed when I get enough saved for one
