Turbo smoke?
Turbo smoke?
After my dipstick blew out a few times, I figured any smoke coming from the engine was linked directly to that..Unfortunately, it's still occurring near the header/turbo. The oil return gasket was just replaced, but it may be leaking slightly, could this be a potential factor influencing the smoke? I'm running an FP red with 7,000 miles on the rebuild. The only time smoke occurs is after a hard pull, it then goes away within a minute. The amount of smoke isn't substantial necessarily, but noticeable enough for other drivers to stare at. Until I find out what's going on I'll be real easy on the car. No discoloration coming from the exhaust, or any other point I can see on the engine. Shane will be installing new cams late/early next week and retuning the car. Hopefully we can figure out the issue. Don't think I'll be able to see the full potential of the cam/IC upgrade because the clutch slips after Shill and I installed the new 3.5" intercooler yesterday, it certainly feels stronger when it wants to hold. And no, it's not the clutch that's smoking. =) Could you guys give me any input here? I'd really appreciate a little insight on what could be, or should be checked still.
Thanks a lot-

Is the smoke coming out the exhaust or just in the engine bay? It is prob the oil feed/return line. You need to make sure that you have a new gasket on there and use a small bit of silicone to help it seal.
Just for piece of mind, make sure there is not oil on the inside of the turbo inlet and check it for shaft play to make sure the seals are still good. There should be no in/out play in the shaft.

I've already clarified exactly where the smoke is coming from in my original post. I also specified that there wasn't any oddity coming from the exhaust, maybe it's you missing the entirety of my first posting? I apologize for any confusion that might have been had though.
