spun rod bearings
Hi everyone I am new to this community and hope that someone can help me out.
I have a 2006 Evo 9 MR only 38k miles. I spun my rod bearing twice. First time I spun it at 16k miles and second time at 38k miles. Stock engine only intercooler, intercooler piping and exhaust are after market. I never beat on it except those two times when I spun it. Is it very common in evolutions? Could this be a factory defect?

No real reason for it to happen. Oil pump problem, maybe. Filthy oil, wrong oil weight or type. Being that stock it shouldn't have spun. I have a good idea why it happened the second time. I see you are in Ohio, I have a solution...........bring it to us.
my bearings spun on my 04 rs at 33k miles its getting fixed now but the mechanic says cause was oil starvation
other friends told me it was due to engine abuse at high rpm's. i never abuse my evo so really i could never find the cause myself some more insight would have been nice but did i get any? no. just a 2500 dollar bill for the rebuild and had to buy a new crank, rods and bearings

^ **** lol it better not. i hired some Filipino guy who says he can do it for really cheap and no warranty
for my sake i hope your wrong. how much does a rebuild run around w/out parts included just labor? sry if this is

evo viii, read ur last post what you just said, u hired a filipino guy who said he could do it cheap and no warranty.....what does that tell you, he doesnt wanna be responsible for the aftermath. Your better off takin it to buschur, it might cost ya more but how many more times u wanna go through the spun bearing incident....a bad #3 cylinder i went through once, paid a lot more to make sure it dont happen again. So spend the money right the first time, or else kick yourself in the a$$ when it happens again. good luck
