cams snap? dude cams are the only thing that will not brake or snap, especially performance cams like jun or hks. PS i have jun, jun makes the strongest internals available.

I dont see how cams can break. There's no real opposing force on the other end like with a tranny, etc. It just spins because something is driving it on one end.

Correct me if Im wrong but dont high lift cams help make TQ; and high duration is for peak high RPM HP?

I am trying to increase the power band in the low end. I want to be able to get good acceleration without launching the car (ie 2000rpm+)

Now there's a good idea! Tell me what I would need to go to attain low rpm punch!

the JUN 272's make the most power above 7500rpms, 35hp more than HKS 272 but the low end isn't as good in fact they wont even idle through MAF (Al tested them,) and I think Tomei Procam is best for all around performance

Cams break. Been there done that.

Anything is possible folks.. Mine was from a inline 2.8L 6cyl hitting 14,000 rpms. 2nd gear at over 100mph is enough to fling a harmonic balancer into the wheel well and the cam turned into shrapnel. bottom end was stout though. it survived. Part of a cam poking through a valve cover is not cool..

Hasven't heard anyone mention Piper cams yet. I am getting my car worked on when I get back from Texas at Quantum Racing. I was going with HKS 272's but I think now I may be going with Pipers.

Are the prices of cams going to be increasing or am I off on something?

I've asked quantum-racing about those, they made 30whp over HKS 272, they also have 265 duration with 11.5 lift, that will give you crazy amount of horsepower throughout the powerband

I'm looking to put 272 ex / 264 in HKS cams in my evo. I'd love to hear what people think of their cams, no matter what the size (264/264, 272/272, 269/269 etc).

How's the driveability? Does it feel too rugged, unrefined? Does it stall out ever?

Also, does it rev slower now? I beleive the HKS cams are not hollow like the stock cams. I'm wondering if it revs a little slower now as a result.

Thanks guys!

Rob
Well, I'm not sure this is exactly what you want, but this is an interesting and informative page: http://www.automotosports.com/cam_test.asp
