Transfer Case Whine
Hey guys,
I have a lot of transfer case whine. My car has 110K on the body/trans/t-case, which has been at 450whp for quite some time. It whines and has a bit of lash. If it is not launched or power shifted, can I get this to last me a little while yet?
Thanks,
Bob

If you have tcase whine its dangerous to keep driving on it for a long time. It will get louder and eventually just lock up. So depends on how much you plan on driving. Change the fluid too to diaqueen.

I have Diaqueen on the way. It won't see aggressive driving. Mostly just DD town and highway miles. I just need it to last until summer, as I won't be financially prepared until summer and it's my only car...
that ^. Heard it can last 50k or 5 miles. Mine made it about 2 years of easy/daily driving. Finally one day I hit the highway and it got 10x louder. Limped it home, parked it, towed to Shep.

I got around 20k miles out of my wining tcase and I didn't really try to preserve it and she never locked up. The higher the rpms the louder it will get. It will wine on accel and grind on decel

Sorry all, I sort of forgot about this thread. I know what the whine sounds like, in the worst case scenario. Mine isn't THAT bad, and it is just faint under normal driving. I haven't noticed it to be specific to a certain speed. I don't beat on the car. I barely even do any spirited driving, so I'm going to push my luck. My younger brother just picked up an HD GoPro camera so I'll mount her to my harness bar and see if it picks up the sound. However, the car's getting tuned next week and I must say I'm a bit worried about the street tuning and dyno pulls it's going to see.....we're shooting for 500whp.
