Leaking Drain Plug [Fixed]
There seems to be a reasonably common issue with the oil drain plug developing a slow leak. For me, it happened this summer and I tried to fix it by replacing the crush washer...which did not help. What did work was wrapping the drain plug with some teflon sealing tape - the same one used for plumbing. After that, no more leak and the necessity of using a washer at all has been eliminated (but I still left the washer on there).
Can teflon tape handle the heat? Yes.
Will it taint the oil? No.
Will it need to be reapplied at each oil change? Up to you.
Easy, cheap fix for those of you with an annoying leak that just won't go away.
