Crazy Spool w/ video

I just recently put on a buschur fmic race intercooler on along with the supplied licp. As you all know, buschur does not have the nipple on the j pipe coming off the turbo for the vacuum line, so I had to re route it to a t harness off the bov line (before the valve cover). I am getting a strange high pitch hissing sound coming from the car as soon as I hit about 7 pounds and I cant figure it out. The car hits full boost but doesn't pull the way it used to before. Almost sounds like it is coming from the bov, but idk. Just wanted to see if any of you guys had this expirence before.

Do a boost leak check, most likely one of the clamps isn't tight enough or the t is cracked from the BOV line.

Thanks for your response! Also just realized the ****ty quality on the vid lol so I changed with it hd so you can hear the sound better. Is it possible to have a boost leak, while still hitting full boost?

Yes you can have a boost leak still hit full boost, your turbo will just be spinning faster to do it, this causes premature wear and may increase the time it takes to hit full boost (lag). Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you.

It's because you tapped the boost controller off the BOV line. It's causing the BOV to open under boost.

You need to tap the boost controller line off the intercooler piping by its self and not the intake manifold. You don't want to pull a vacuum on the boost controller ever. It can actually cause the ball to jam if it is a ball-spring style controller which will lead to an overboost condition.

Just take the nipple they didn't do anything to and block it off wasted power there.

If it's high pitched it's the lower intercooler pipe for sure. The lower will almost always cause a high pitched noise while building boost if there is a boost leak.

Also the BOV is one line (also the FPR) you do not want a boost pressure source connected to that has a bleeder hole on it. If using a manual boost controller with a bleeder hole it causes issues with the BOV fluttering and such. The guys at Synapse have done some testing with this and seen the issues it causes in another post.

When i got my BR licp on i was not happy with tapping into Bov vacum line...so i drilled/tapped a new 1/4npt fitting in an sealed with jb weld...then ran bc off that like the stock j pipe had originally. Im happy now.

If you need pics lmk....was gonna do a write up....but im lazy lol.

So are you saying I could just block it off??

Also

If it that doesnt work, would it be possible to tap a new line on the upper Intercooler pipe?

yes you can tap into it for your boost guage as well. I noticed mine was off but it was capped off origionally and it ate the cap so just block it off not gonna hurt nothing and it will show up on a boost leak test

I'm confused, So that vacuum line really doesn't serve any purpose?

Stock it is tapped into something. If there isn't anything tapped into it now, then its just acting like a leak. Go ahead and block it off being I know exactly what your talking about being like I said mine was origionally blocked off but came undone.
