Im starting the process of building a 2.4, having MAP do all the work, their massive experience and results with the 2.4 speak for themselves. Itll be worth the extra pennys to have someone do it thats been there and seen that before!
If you knew who this was you'd think differently...ill bet he has more wheel time in evos and dsms than you do just having a license

Well after some more looking around and getting some different price quotes, I see that this build is gonna take a little more money than originally thought. The cylinder head is definitely going to be a killer! But one thing I've learned, you gotta pay to play! LOL

Lol. Give me your paypal so I can send you a dollar to buy a clue. If you can control 480 ft lbs on sticky tires one handed I'd like to see the video.

i have your back

OP ya a $3500 build isnt happening if you buy a motor and have someone install it without cutting corners...my 2.3 was $3550 alone not including head, gaskets, timing belt kit, cams, clutch, etc in the end you're looking at around $9000

I think I might have just had my hand forced on this issue!! I noticed this morning that the temp level was getting way up there, coolant res was EMPTY, no signs of leaks under the car....... further investigation is under way....... FML

i cant emphasize enough, dont rush a motor build...buy a beater first before cutting corners. if you really want a good deal on a almost finished 2.4l i can post a link (its not mine btw i just saw it for sale and its a hell of a deal...dont recall the name but its a red evo from GA), you would do well to buy it and have a shop machine and assemble

Thats my point Whoever was piloting the car in that video was a fool for driving with one hand around corners like that with that much power,,, Maybe drag guys think its cool or makes you a good driver or means your strong to grip a wheel like that. Thats one of the first things i teach when instructing is to get you **** hands on the wheel and off the shifter.

Perhaps the pilot does have more seat time then me, its obviously not quality when it comes to the corners.

For your smartass reply about controlling a car with that much power on sticky tires (take your pick of tire). I do. I use two hands though because im not stupid.

getsideways_87@hotmail.com Thanks in advance for the dollar...

Hey Mullen, yeah I saw that post already and am really thinking about it. I'm going to keep an eye on it for a day or 2. But I do 100% agree with you that cutting corners will bite you square in the *** in the long run. Im looking to build or have built a bulletproof motor that will run like a champ! Like I said previously you have to pay to play with these cars! Thanks again for the tips!!

no problem man, im here to help..
this site is notorious for giving out opinionated advice instead of factual information...too many people say well so and so runs this or they told me this, talk is cheap until it costs you or me a load of money
as for that motor its a really good deal, i have been half tempted to buy it and throw it in my wrangler haha

$9000???

I'll be in less then that with a whole turbo kit and slew of other parts.

If he installs the engine himself probably looking at closer to 5-6k depending on how much he does at once.

GetSideWays, I'm pretty sure thats Lucas English. I do in fact agree with you about the two hand rule, but I'm pretty sure he's got it under control

To the OP. As far as the oil squirters go, I do believe removing them actually bumps oil pressure a bit. Which isn't really a bad thing. Plus there's one less thing to break in the even of a failure. I did have them machined in on my standard rod 4G64. This is going back two years ago now, before the 2.4 was as popular as it is today.

It's my understanding the cylinder head does require a bit of bowl work in order to be 100% proper, but I ran a bone stock cylinder head on a MAP stg 2 2.4 block before with no ill effects using MAP L19's and a PE head Gasket. Again, this is on a standard rod motor. The "perfect" combination of parts really wasn't written in stone yet.

Hope that helps.

lilev is good peoples. If you buy from him you'll be straight. I got my 2.4 built (Including repairing the head and all Ferrea drive train and GSC S3 cams) for 6k. Misc stuff needed probably another 800. 9k is a little high

What's this about the head needing bowl work? Not quote sure what that all implies? Does the head handle it or does it kill the reliability?
