Sporadic High Idle Possibly the TPS?
I am breaking in my new 2.4L, running Tephra7 rom. Everything is going smoothly except:
The idle will suddenly jump to between 1,500 and 2,000 RPMs. I've seen it happen after the car was fully warmed up and driven. I've also seen it happen when the car is cold. It will stay high for random amounts of time but typically for awhile (the duration of my trip +)
Below is a log where the car was running properly. I then turned it off for about 3 minutes (ran into a store), and then started it again. It ran FINE for about 10 seconds, then all of a sudden the idle went high, at which point I started logging.
Whenever the car is idling high, the TPS reads ~16%. When its idling correctly, it reads ~10%.
Has anyone seen this before? Is it a failing TPS? I've checked the voltage on the TPS and looks like it works ??
Thanks

Yes, if the ECU sees a higher TPS, it will do an idle bump anticipating that you are adding more throttle.
If you were not on the throttle and the TPS sensor reads 10% ~ 16%, then it would point to a bad TPS, wiring or some sort of electrical interference issue (if you have a CDI ignition, etc..)
Mine stays at 14% and never moves at idle.

I did suspect the throttle cable or something getting hung up in its travel, but it then started to happen while sitting at 1,000rpm idle, and without touching the gas, it jumps up.

Throttle hang was my issue...fixed pretty much now. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...-table-35.html
