Issue my bro has with his car right now - Needs new clutch..

Story:
Saturday my bro was on his way to work. He got on the freeway going around 50-60mph, he heard a loud pop coming from front drivers side of the car. He said it was so loud that he thought it was a flat tire, but it wasn't. He said that when he tried to accelerate the car felt like it wanted to stall. So he drove like a granny the rest of the way to work.

After he got off of work, he turned the car on and the check engine light came on. Not flashing, just solid light. No abnormal noises, car idles fine, engine sounds fine, no leaks of any kind. The car is as slow as turtle right now, that about it I guess the clutch is so bad its barely engaging or its on limp mode because of the check engine light..

Can the check engine light be caused by a bad clutch? Or is there another issue here?

 

ummm.....that sounds like his LICP popped off.

 

Definitely NOT the clutch. Loud pop from transmission would mean something breaking severely. Sounds like an IC pipe. Have you done a visual inspection? Start with the lower IC pipe since that's the one more likely to pop off. The clutch won't cause a CEL, either.

 

I havent looked at the car myself, will look at it after work. Thanks guys, ill check back on this...

 

Sure enough it was an IC pipe. The top IC popped off the coupler. One problem fixed, now the clutch.

HI to all... i need suggestion from every Evolution Expert i have evo-8 2003 (6+1) speed manual my every parts r Stock parts. i just Change hks racing plug n sonic power air intake and i am using Exedy stage 2..

but now i want to use Exedy hyper twin plate n hks evc 5 boost controller
have any harmful problem will show in my evo-8 or have to change any other recommended for this change

please help me i m in big confusion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
