how many have a 6spd with tranny rebuilds

Hi i was wondering how many have a 6 speed evo with over 400 whp? I'm looking to break that low 400whp but i have been told that to convert my 6 spd to the 5 spd. If u did get ur 6spd rebuild what kind of whp do u have and how much did it cost?

I'm running the Shep 6sp gears w/o the final drive upgrade. Works like a champ! Btw, I'm at around 400 whp on E85

86k miles and absolutely no gear wear. 400/410. I've taken it apart to install a spray bar and upgrade the final drive.

Over 400whp here with no issues.
The high TQ numbers will kill it as well but it all depends on what your doing with the car.
Mine is a daily driver and see's little 1/4 mile track time so its not abused.

Mustang. Standing mile and some drag. No road course or autox.

400+ whp.. many launches.
holding strong. not a single issue.
ACT street clutch with ACT flywheel. People that have problems with the 6 speed tranny, dont know how to drive. Everything used in Russia are the 6 speed tranny Evos.

No issues here either, all depends on what you do with the car and how you drive it. My 6-speed doesnt have but 13k miles on it so that's probably one reason. I'm still ripping it out for a build 5-speed though with better ratios. I was always at first thinking on building my 6-speed but IMO in the end the 5-speed is way to go.

i've got a couple of years at 360tq/410whp, 9 months at 380tq/470whp, and just modded my way to 400+tq/500whp. 1st thru 3rd are strong gears; 4th thru 6th are not so strong. i'm limting tq in the upper gears to around 390tq using factory boost control.

I have my 6 speed in my MR still and I was making just shy of 400whp and 426tq on a Mustang Dyno with Zero issues. As long as its not a road race mobile you will be fine without a transmission cooler. They are stout transmissions, just dont be sloppy trying to get it into 5th or 6th. Stay on top of transmission flushes and if youre worried get a trans cooler.

From what I've read in the 6spd failure thread and my own experience, its heat that kills it more than brute force. The 6spd already holds less oil than the 5. And its mostly road racers that spend ~30min out per session (like me) that see it fail. I have a stock VIII turbo tuned to 300lbft. After mine failed I replaced it with a built 5spd shep unit.

Im 460whp/410tq on a Mustang Dyno with a 6 Speed, your good man, just as long as you dont beat on your car like its a Time Attack Car or a Drag Strip Top Fuel Car. Keep in mind Evos break when you mod them, its just a matter of time, so dont further it along by being a kid and beating on it for no reason.

That is also why you have to change thevtransmission fluid after every track day. Same with transfer case and diff if you want some longevity out of the system. Expensive yes, but less expensive than trans, duffs, etc.
