Just hit 2000 miles and the ol check engine light came on. I thought it was my gas cap because I just filled up. Went in to the dealer today and they said it was a bent valve in one of my cylinders. I haven't even brought this thing about 4.5k rpms yet, was it me?

 

Please tell me that they are going to fix it under warranty.

In that case, my guess would be a couple of wild test drives caused this failure.

 

Maybe, I'm curious if anyone even know what would cause valves to bend.

 

Could've just been a defect from the factory. I don't know how you could bend a valve on a stock engine, even if you're abusing it

valvespring failure- only affected valve

or

timing belt failure or skip - many valves affected

either way the actual cause it contact with the piston

 

or over reving, like downshifting to 2nd from 5th

 

Well I doubt it was that, i never even got close to a redline.

I'm thinking it must have been a factory defect.

 

Or valve "float", from excessive RPM.

 

Over revving causes a valvespring failure or hydrolic bucket failure

 

Well the tech said it may be valve bend, the only thing he knew for certain before I left was there were 7 misfires registered by the computer.

 

My BS detector is going off....bent valve would cause continuous misfires. Plus, the computer will tell you if the engine has been overrevved. He needs to do a compression check, but it prolly ain't a bent valve.
