hoot or whine from clutch?????? not TC

What I have noticed in the last few times I have driven my car is that when down changing from say 4 to 3 or 3 to 2 I sometimes (not everytime) get a noise coming from the gearbox or clutch. once the clutch is fully engaged the noise is gone but whilst the GB is coming up to speed it makes a kind or a whine or a hoooting sound ????? any clues as to whats going on???????

Figure out what clutching is in it...lay under the car, there will be a rubber plug on the bell housing of the trans. Pull the plug out and tell us what color the clutch is and what it looks like. My twin disc was noisy as hell

Possible...I'm runnin the same clutch as you evo8mr...I get a whine only in first gear...that's usually the only time it makes noise, the only way to find out if the input shaft bearing is going bad is to pull the trans

Yeah not that keen on pulling the gearbox. Maybe have to wait till the problem becomes more pronounced. Just like to know what it is that's all. It not easily repeated only happened once on the way home from work. But by the feeling i would say you sounds like a bearing.... Is there an input and output shaft bearing???? It's not in a single gear so it's got to be something that's constantly rotating
