Lightbulb Whos running a Walbro 400LPH FP?

Just wanted to get a good idea of how many people on here are successfully running the Walbro 400LPH FP? Looking for more detailed information from the people running them...

If you are running this fuel pump, did you get it installed by a reputable shop? i.e. MAPerformance or Buschur...
or did you install it yourself?
Did you opt to get the hardwire kit too?

How much power is your evo making?

A lot has been said about installing an AFPR along with this fuel pump also...which AFPR are you running with this?

I hope this thread becomes an informative one for people looking to get the Walbro 400LPH FP!

I posted in another thread about the 400lph that you commented on, but mine is working great. I installed it myself per MAP's instructions, just securing the pump with the clamp; not over tightening it. I'm at about 500whp (pump gas), and looks like I have a lot more room to go. I didn't rewire the pump, either.

I made the change from 2 Warlbro's (1 In Tank and 1 In Line), and the car was extremely rich after I put the 400lph in, obviously telling me that it out performed my last setup, which supported 550whp on pump gas.

I'm running a stock FPR. I started a thread about if an aftermarket FPR is needed, and every reputable shop said no, with proof. Here's the link:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ufficient.html

Hope that helps you out.

Come summer once my new build is done, I'll be rewiring the pump and pushing it to about 650whp, so we'll see if it's up to the task.

so the consensus on the need of an aftermarket AFPR depends on if you rewire it?
looks like when i do this im going to not rewire it.

how much whp could one expect out of this pump on e85?

Indeed. I'll quote Tom (tscompusa) here:
"the only reason the stock fpr gets overrun when you rewire, is because the car is delivering constant full voltage to the fuel pump and it gets overrun just idling.."

I can't answer on how much it would support on E85. Hopefully someone chimes in, as I'd like to know this as well.

These kind of threads are good, as the information is just plain as day and you don't have to search through 30 pages of BS to find one post that tells you what you need.

I know theres more than one person running this fuel pump!
So far from what I have asked vendors, they recommend to run an AFPR with this pump...

Yes, threads like these are great for learning purposes as it allows us to see what parts are overkill and what parts are necessary based on the goals and intended use of each specific car. I, for one, have a goal of 600whp with E85 and 500whp on pump/91. I have bought the following parts to address my fuel system:

1. http://www.maperformance.com/map-afp...r-aem-evo.html

2. http://www.maperformance.com/deatsch...dea-9-301.html

3. http://www.maperformance.com/fic-blu...i-dsm-evo.html

I believe I have addressed everything sufficiently but if I do not need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, I can easily sell the DW300 and AFPR that I have already bought. Does it hurt to run an aftermarket AFPR?

If the 400lph is sufficient without an AFPR, then I would rather use this as I believe that it is a more simple set up.

The DW300 pump flows 320LPH at idle, the W400 you have flows 400LPH at idle.

If you need one for the DW300, you'll definitely need one for a pump that flows 80 LPH more.

I am in your same shoes, my friend. I am having my car tuned at Wingz in March.

And Evan tuned your car, right? I have the DW300 and I see people running the Walbro 400lph without an AFPR and it delivers more fuel. I just do not like having parts all over the place and would prefer a more simple route.

Did I post the correct link for the Walbro 400lph above?

Use the Walbro 400. The fuel pump hanger modifications are a 30 minute job, or you can send your hanger to Buschur or MAP & they will install the 400 for approx. $100 in labor.

I ran out of fuel with the Walbro 255 on E-85 and 1450cc FIC Bluemax Injectors. 525HP/424TQ on VD (Dynojet Setting).

I installed a Walbro 400 and an adjustable FPR, probably didn't need the FPR. The tune richened up significantly, but I have not been re-tuned for the 400 yet. I'm going to have Tom tune it on the standard wiring, no rewire.

I'm guessing that an adjustable FPR isn't necessary on the stock wiring, but you will probably need one if you do a rewire.
