AEM EMS to Stock ECU SD

After sorting through information and just doing the swap, it turned out to be easy.

Honestly, the Stock ECU is great. I have noticed NO ill side effects, and it is a ton easier to tune than the EMS.

All I did for the swap was:

-Replace AEM 5 Bar with Omni 4 Bar
-Replace 11 tooth crank trigger wheel with OEM crank trigger wheel
-Replace modified cam trigger wheel with OEM cam trigger wheel
-Plug factory harness into Stock ECU!

So, there's a black and white "what you need to change" for anyone else who stumbles upon this thread.

Haha I'm interested in my reactions as well. However, I need answers in order to perform the change.

SD on the stock ecu requires a map sensor, fuel temp or air temp. Thats all. Any map sensor and pretty much either method of acquiring a temp reading does the trick... take a look at your engine bay if theres an aftermarket ign system just make sure its stock ecu friendly. Look for other non stock sensors. Sd is very simple on the stock ecu.

Thanks man. I have a MAP sensor already (JDM 3 Bar). I was just confused on what I keep from the AEM, as I obviously already have an IAT sensor.

Hahaha. I quoted you before you could be stealthy.

My main question was just about which sensors are specifically for AEM, and which sensors were stock.

I have an IAT on the UICP and I have a Coolant Temp sensor on the block. I don't have a knock sensor, but we tune with a stethoscope to work around that, and I obviously have my crank and cam sensors. Anything I'm missing? Boost is controlled manually. I suppose I should be good to go then. Would I have the ability to unplug the EMS and plug the harness right into the Stock ECU, or do I have to re-wire everything into a different "plug" to fit the stock ECU?

Does anyone know if AEM calls for the IAT to be spliced into the MAF harness like it should be for SD on the Stock ECU?

Bump this from the dead. Will I need to get Mitsu sensors, or are the AEM sensors compliant with a stock ECU?

I'm confused as to why there's so little info out there on this subject.

The aem iat is compliant. You just change the ecu scale to match.

How do you have your iat wired now with aem? You can just use fuel temp to sim iat, its proven and works well.

No need to splice the IAT in with spoolin ups adapter harness.

That's what I was planning on doing. I bought the car with AEM on it, so I'm not 100% sure how it's wired.

This is also good to know.

Thank you both, that clears a lot up.

all sensors should be stock with the exception of the mat and map sensors. aem's mat sensor is likely a gm sensor so you'll need to rescale the iat sensor table for it. some tweaks are also needed for the map sensor.
