1/4 question

So my friend got his sti sponsered and they have a sick evo at this shop. Here are the mods
1)catback
2)downpipe
3)intercooler houses
4)smaller battery
5)hks cams
6)boost controller
7)valves
8)intake
They have the some other stuff, but not much more than that...it has a stock fuel system, stock turbo, and stock intercooler, everything else is moded. But anyways the are running 26psi, cause they said they dont care if they blow the motor. Regardless, they also said that the car cant run 12s!!!!!!! With these mods on some 93 gas shouldnt the car be good for mid 12s? Cause they said that it is still a low 13.
Anyways the really cool thing is i bet them $500 that i could pull a 12.99 or lower in my friends STI. And the great thing is the STI has up pipe, down pipe, exhaust, grounding kit, intake, and a boost controller locked at 1.2bar. That will be the eaiset 500 that i have ever made in my life. The track that we are going to run at is at 0 elevation.
But the original question....with those mods on a EVO shouldnt 12s be a reality?

If those are really the mods, and they can't break 12's, then something is seriously amiss. That car should be good for low 12's to high 11's with a good tune and a competent driver.

The problem is they are running 26 psi of boost! They have extremely hot air going into the engine because they are running the turbo WAY out of it's efficiancy range, getting knock, and having the ECU pull timing due to the knock. If they havn't already destroyed the ring lands (quite possible) they will run a much faster time (mid to low 12's) by turning the boost down to 21 psi.

I would have your friend get his STi away from that place as fast as he can get it moving, they obviously have no clue WTF they are doing.

Ya no doubt , the stock turbo is on efficent up to 23psi max. 26 is just crazy no matter what other mods they have going to it. 12.2-12.5 should be about what that car is running.

Actually both wrxs and stis have up pipes, it is just that the sti doesnt have a cat in the up pipe...the mod doesnt give that much horsepower cause it is only a little bigger, but it makes the engine sound alot meaner.
