70mm TB and first rebuild start

I just cranked it over and started for the first time last night. I need some help troubleshooting and one of the topics I suspect is the new 70mm TB I received with the rev3 MAP intake.

I am searching for threads on how to install or set or flash what is needed for the new TB and the reinstalled TPS. The idle is really high and the engine isn't fully pumped full of oil yet so I don't want to damage anything letting it rev like that.

New mods during rebuild are:
Kelford 272s and springs
MAP rev3 intake and 70mm TB
polished head and exhaust mani
balance shaft delete
EGR delete
FIC 1100s

I set the injector scaling and latencies and it started right up, but its seemingly really loud and revving real high. Maybe because of bleeding the lifters, and they aren't fully pumped full of oil yet I suspect. I didn't log anything yet, because I was standing by with coolant and checking for leaks.

Any suggestions on setting the TB up correctly is probably a good first step.

Thanks
I

With the engine off and key on check your TPS reading it should read 0%. Loosen the two screws that hold the TPS on and adjust it till it reads 0%.

Also check the TB flange that MAP welded on is not warped. Mine was so far off that you could see day light along the bottom and sides.

usually the TPS reads 13.3% when the engine is off.

I just posted about the same issue in the 70mm tb thread. I tried using the set screw and it didn't help. I'll try adjusting the tps tonight and report back.
I also did a fresh build and have the MAP Rev3 im.

#1- Check for vacuum leak by doing a boost leak test.

I had a similar situation. I had to adjust the tps switch. I had to use the 70mm adapter until I port my mani so it has taken all the slack out of my throttle cable.

My tps was also at 21%. Fixed that, but I have bigger issues. My cam gears seem to be too close by one tooth. It's tough to tell exactly and I know I had it perfect before the motor went in so something about the tension or oil changed. I have to pull it tomorrow and find a better way to make sure it's setup properly. Hopefully I didn't bust something running it for a few seconds last night.

Any belt adjust by one tooth tricks?

Still idling really high at 2k. I backed out the hex set screw all the way, the TPS is correct and reading 13% at idle.

I can't do a boost leak until I get a fitting to plumb to the intake for the air compressor. I had not leaks prior so it has to be something that is changed now. That leaves the IM (new rev3 MAP), the TB, and the EGR delete.

The EGR delete should have helped elliminate this kind of thing.

Any other ideas why I am idling at 2k?

Throttle cable is actually loose, set screw is all the way out and TPS is adjusted to 13% in ecru flash.

What's your ISCV logging at idle?

I am having some difficulty with that stuff, because its all new as of last night and today. I am logging ISCV Demand % as per the mrfred post.

ISC Steps of 76
Idel is at 2400 rpm, but target of 1300
ISCV Demand % of 51%

Most of my reading is leading me to this:

Just an update. My engine has quieted down after a short mild drive today. The lifters are settling down (filling up) and the engine sounds good. Its hunting for idle, which is reflected in my ecuflash forum posts. The update here is that after many pushing for a boost leak test, I did the drive around as a way to do the most ghetto boost leak. In that a significant leak would be audible in many cases. I do have some whizzing noise as boost sets in, so I am going to Home Depot to fab up some boost leak tester tonight.

In case anyone reads this and is curious....

Finally got around to boost leak testing last night and I also had this issue... Huge leak around the IM/TB flange... I'm probably going to email MAP about it, since it doesn't seem to be an isolated case.
