Timing Belt Install
For instance, why are these timing marks straight up and down at TDC?

Pre-removal Operation
• Under Cover Removal (Refer to GROUP 51, Front
Bumper P.51-2.)
• Side Cover Removal
• Crankshaft Shaft Damper Pulley Removal (Refer to
P.11A-26.)
• Front Axle Crossmember Bar Removal (Refer to GROUP
32, Engine Roll Stopper and Centermember P.32-6.)
• Front Exhaust Pipe Removal (Refer to GROUP 15,
Exhaust Pipe and Main Muffler P.15-23.)
The actualy process looks identical to a DSM with the exception of the crossmember and exhaust removal suggested by the manual and the timing mark location.

Yes, the cam gear marks. The other marks on the sprockets appear much like the DSM's. I haven't done this job yet, so couldn't say whether or not the pipe and crossbar removal are necessary. My instinct says "no" and that it's just one of those steps thrown in to make things "easier" to work with.
