Any reason *not* to get this Oil Catch Can? (42 Draft Designs)
Hey guys,
We've been looking around for an oil catch can for my pop's Evo IX. We were leaning towards the carbon fiber Mishimoto for a while but realized it's not baffled. Then I inquired with JM Fabrications about their deluxe catch can and found it's not baffled either.
In the VW world (the crazy messed up world that it is lol), most people with catch cans run the ones from 42 Draft Designs that seem to be of great quality and are baffled and stuff. Is there any reason why we shouldn't get one for the Evo? The "ultimate" ones are a bit pricey but it's better to buy nice than buy twice, right? haha

Thanks!

They seem a little pricey, but the design is sound. The key is the baffling. The Stealth seems like a better Bang For The Buck, but still a little much. Have you looked at the How Too section for the home made version? I've been running this for five years with great results.
Well, if you run a catch can you will need two. One to catch oil from the CV to the air intake and another to catch oil from the Intake Manifold to the PCV.
The one that is catching oil from the IM to the PCV is going to see boost so make sure it doesn't leak under those conditions. You can do this by running an inline Check Valve.

The price, I paid $130 for 2 DC3 Saikou Michi cans and those are as good as a OCC can get. Super light as well and are custom made to how you want. Check out the website, he makes breather cans too.

Yes, there are multiple reasons.
1) Weighs far too much
2) You don’t need bling.
3) http://www.saikoumichi.com/
4) See #3 above, it is baffled better and has multiple fitment options
5) With the $100+ you save with #3 you can afford the weed that you lost out on by not being in the VW community any longer, if you were really despondent about losing those friends by having a performance car.

I'm also in the market for an oil catch can. What is the difference between something that is baffled and one is not? For example I was thinking of getting the weapon r catch can for my evo8.
