Is this the one you guys buy for the Evo8/9?

Yes that is the one to buy ( and at a good price too), but make sure you know how to tune for it, it's definately not a plug and play part.
Also, if you like to keep things clean make sure you get the harness for it ( spoolin up sell them), then you just plug it to the stock socket and don't have to cut/tape any wires.

Thanks for the warning but I have no intention of doing this myself. I'm taking it to rallinspired or RRE.

Was the GM 3-port an original equipment part on the '86-'87 Buick Turbo Regals and Grand Nationals? If not what GM vehicle was it OE on?

Why use that one? There's a thread around that reviewed the most popular solenoids and the GM seems to be the best choice, it's a solid unit, and it's cheaper than the option you presented

You could pick it up from any of the major vendors here. Although since it is a GM product, you can order it through any backwater, confed flag, marry your cousin autoparts store.

The mac valve, as mentioned above, is a good piece too.
