That poor engine wasn't given any fair chance of saving itself.

I just got off the phone with Jimmy from The Shop, and he is reaching out to work with me and David from Buschur Racing. The two of them have gone the extra mile and are providing excellent customer support.

Your shop needs to step up and cover the losses; disabling knock control and warning light is a BIG red flag.

Knock control was not disable, it was just pretty severely dampened.

On my Buschur 2.4L I barely had to adjust the knock tables FYI... I still have the knock light come on at 3 and high come on at 6 and rarely see it... Low octane timing maps are retarded 3 degrees, and fuel maps are decreased .6 afr map points... No problems... BTW Dave I now have over 20,000 miles on the motor now, this was one of the first 2.4 bottom ends you did! Thanks again!

I did not modify the MIVEC cam for the taller deck height - please elaborate on this since I don't know what I would modify. Car is running 27psi and IDC gets upward of 90-95% under high boost. AFR's are about 12.5 under initial spool and quickly drop to 10.8-11.2 as boost comes on.

I actually did log the car the other day and was getting some odd knock count and could feel it (probably was one of the plugs going or gone). I replaced some IC clamps and resolved a boost leak, and knock went away and car was running great.

Also, just did my compression test. Looks like the head has to come off 178-100-178-152
27psi with a ~95% IDC and a 12.5 AFR is not a question of if it will blow but when... too bad you found out the hard way.

It's good to read that "The shop" is working with you to resolve their mistake with that crappy tune...

good luck!
(and listen to David B. He's a little rough around the edges but a tuner that I respect none the less)

The op stated 12.5 during spool up which is perfectly fine.

hope your kidding. but if your not you have sold bad service to hundreds of customers. IMHO

filling with 91 when car is tuned for 93 would be enough to stress those thin edges. its just not smart to leave them sharp during a build. dont care how many times you have done it. not everyone posts thread when their engine fails. fact is very few actually do. you can always improve your services no matter how good you are.

there is a thread on tuners this month just like this. guy was hootin and hollerin the piston manufacture was at fault when his burned off just like the ones in this thread.
