5 speed to 6 speed swap questions.
So I just bought my new lancer evo 11 days ago and I was taking off from a stop sign when one of my timing belt pulleys snapped in half which sent shrapnel through both sides of the block and oil pan. This forces me to replace the engine at the least, although I havent gotten the transmission off the engine to see if that was damaged as well. But while I have it all out I was wondering what had to be done to swap the 5 speed for the mr's 6 speed transmission. Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything. Also if anyone knows of or is selling a cheap engine that is either running or rebuildable information would be appreciated, as it stand im looking towards a dsm graveyard complete engine due to the block and pulley being destroyed.
^ make sure he gets the harness for the reverse solenoid and the speedo as well. he will need the tranny mount and the shifter linkage bracket on the tranny as well. its not a bad swap really. i had to do it for the last evo i built and it was a breeze. it was like swapping a fwd mitsu from auto to manual. the shifter linkage firewall plate is the most difficult part of this swap. also, make sure your speedo sensor is secured well and not just in place. if not you will get all sorts of funny speed readings because its a magnetic hall effect sensor instead of a gear type sensor that the five speed cars have. this is another reason why you need the tranny harness. luckily it just plugs right into where the 5spd harness goes.

transmission
shifter cables
cable bracket (trans side)
speedo sensor (and sleeve)
trans breather vent
lower clutch line
6spd shifter (complete unit, base, bushings, shifter, everything)
you might also need the shifter surround in the interior of the car, I know my shift boot in my MR does not fit my new 5spd shifter but i THINK the 5spd surround might work on the 6spd shifter.
transmission wire harness (although you'll still have to cut it or de-pin it because the harness is different on the car side, I just swapped the 2 pin connector for reverse.)
new drivers side motor mount (for 6spd)
Other than those parts everything else should be good. I just did the 5spd swap on my car and thats what I needed. Sometimes I see different clutches for sale that are 5spd or 6spd specific but I've seen nothing that leads me to think they are actually different. If you need the shifter I have a complete one (from just doing my swap), PM me and I'll make you a deal.
