another good read but I'm curious to when it would be a good idea to rebuild a pump or clean aside from it not working.

So in my efforts to take my pump apart, I'm a little worried I've screwed myself. In (attempting) to take the body apart, one screw came out pretty easily but the other wouldn't budge stripped, so I figured I'd try to drill the head out. It's not example going well as I have no machining skills, see the pictures:

It's eating up drill bits quicker than than the bolt itself.

Any suggestions where to go from here?

looks like you managed to drill out the head.. now you will need to bang it about with a wooden hammer...
usually the both parts of the body are stuck due to corrosion so need some hammering..

So I've pried into bolt shaft area between the two body pieces and I can get the body wiggling so I know it's loose but that bolt, and whatever I've done to it, is still holding it on.

Any ideas what I can do to get the bolt head off? Keep drilling?

Got it. Drilled a little more and died some prying and then it cracked off. Got a vice grip on the bolt shaft and it came out no problem. Bonus: the plate that gets replaced came half off with the body. Only tricky part left is getting the bearing out.

The pump is back together and tested to run. I'll be installing this weekend and seeing how it goes.

Installed the pump. I can run and bleed it manually but still 3 lights - must be an electrical problem as I can't get the pump to run by holding down the accelerator and turn the ignition on.

Light up right away means electrical (loose / wrong connection, etc) and if it lights up after a while, it means problems with the pump. Correct?

Btw, i got to that point of drilling the the heads off the two bolts between the two body pieces. Its a PITA to get it off. Will continue over the weekend.

yes.. light right away means either a broken pressure sensor or problem in the loom

due to pump position and orientation on us cars you always have motor bearing problems and corroded inside bolts.. taking the pump apart is always a pita
