can you have a high revving (stock 8 or 9 turbo) engine?
say upto 9k?
presumably valves/springs play the biggest part in enabling an engine to rev without losing control of valve timing. so if that was addressed what else would be needed to give a good spread of power or if you cant have such a wide spread and the band is simply moved up the rev range (due to cams) is there any more usable power to be had?
drivability/emissions etc aside.

You would need a setup that makes power that high, Springs/Retainers, and at a minimum Rod Bolts.
On a stock turbo setup its not worth it. Unless you're trying to run 4th gear out at the track. But you should only need ~8k for that

A) Your turbo won't make power up there.
B) Your cams won't make power up there.
C) Your valves may float up there.
(A, B, and C all assuming stock valvetrain).
If you really just want to rev your car out to say you did, grab some adjustable cam gears, springs, and a tune, and have a ball.

yes sprinting is why i'd need more revs for those times where i'd have to grab another gear. so zero power going to wheels where say if my turbo is on its knees at 8200rpm and only making 150bhp then thats 150bhp more than changing gear. ???
i guess its the turbo spool V's power war you couldn't have fast spool and big power but that gap is shrinking (took 20yrs i know) so is cam tech moved on so a wider than years gone by can be had?

There is no power at all up there stock. Even if the rod bearings and head hold, the turbo and engine would fail soon from excessive turbine back pressure.
Much better off shifting at 7000 rpm
