Upgrade from evo9 turbo
Upgrade from evo9 turbo
Well I am currently running a stock evo9 turbo at 28psi on e-85. Making about 400/400. I am still on stock block and head. I want to keep the stock block so I was looking into a turbo that would make more power up top but keep torque down so my rods will be happy. I was looking into the FP, MAP, and CBRD turbos but cant decide which one is right for me. I don't want it to spool too fast so it builds torque too quick, but I still want decent power up top. Any suggestions?
Im in the same boat. Gonna go 440ish whp and keep tq low wiht only performance mod being a new charger. I can't justify paying what fp wants for theirs. As of now im looking at the precision 5857 bb. ya it'll be later spool but going from a boosted honda where the power never stopped coming on to a stock turbo evo where spool is too quick imo and power flattens out to much is why im looking into the precision ya it'll have later spool but seriously why do you need 14psi in third at roughly 3500 when racing you'll be at higher rpm. plus its not over priced.
some precision stuff https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...862-t4-ts.html

With upgrading the turbo to any of these mentioned. I don't think your gonna keep the torque under 400. It would prob be in your best interest to get a "slower" spooling turbo. My recommendation is ef3/4 or red/black. I think bbk is outta the question since the spool like stock. If I were you I would without a doubt go ef4 or black.

If you feel that you will ever want more than 450whp though I would recommend the EF3.
