Alternator died? Opinions/Tech advice needed

Hey guys, need some help/ advice on what to do about this.

I was driving home from work today when i noticed this...
(BTW Parking brake was NOT engaged... It just stays on...)

So i called my buddy that works at pep boys, and he hooked my car up to the battery/alternator tester thingy and gave me this...

So my alternator isn't charging my battery.... GREAT.

So my question is...

Whats the most cost efficient/smartest way to handle this situation?

Buddy of mine just got one from Auto zone for $90 with lifetime warranty. Probably best bet. If mine ever goes out Im going that route.

Not easy. There is another thread somewhere here where they discuss (I think) three different ways of doing it.

because im getting quoted 500-600 for an OEM one installed, but my buddy is confident he is mechanically sound enough to do this for me to save on labor. but he has only worked on hondas his whole life. I just don't know whether to save 300-350 by doing it ourselves or to get it professionally done.
