top end engine rebuild

Replacing the top end on my 2006 evo se. My timing belt jumped time and caused damage to the head beyond repair. I also have to replace the cam shaft and all the valves and lifters. I do not know much about performance, but with all the money I am spending should i put performance in vice oem parts. (i.e. head and cams....) The oem parts cost roughly $4000 any ideas of other options I have? The car currently has an aftermarket intercooler, intake, and cat back exhaust.

There are numerous valve options, do you have an opinion on which type or style?

Imo I would do
1.MAP Stage 3 head

http://www.maperformance.com/map-sta...hs-s3-evo.html

Combustion Chambers Match Overbore (+$300.00)

Valves Supertech Black Nitrided (IN)/Inconel (EX) +1mm (+$299.99)

Valve Seals Supertech (+$24.99)

Valve Guides Ferrea (+$107.98)

Springs and Retainers GSC Beehives / Ti Retainers / Chromoly Seats (+$399.50)

Core Options no core (+$800.00)

Total-$3432.45
+Gsc s 2 Cams $550

So your looking right around $4000 maybe a little under if you have a good core to send in that's just my op do what works for you.

Get a used head in good condition which is roughly $600-700.
Beehive springs. $200-300
Used 272 cams of your choice. $400
New liters $100
OEM head gasket $65
ARP head studs $100
Gates timing belt $100

No need to spend big bucks. You should be able to get that running for just over $2000 with labor and whatever other little stuff you need. Have your head checked out by a machine shop it might be still be ok!

You have NO NEED for oversized valves whatsoever.

I would highly recommend getting a decent used stock head for ~$750 and sending it to Curt Brown for a port and rebuild ($1500). Then, get the cams of your choice (GSCs are around $500).

Save yourself some money and have nearly the best head you can buy.

Unless you plan on making over 650whp maybe even 700whp it is said that the stock size valve will help keep velocity up and still flow the same. If you plan on making crazy power then a +1mm will help to flow that extra bit for more top end.
