Car wont rev past 5,000 rpms

Hey,
I need some Ideas on how to troble shoot a problem Im having.

Car : Evo 8

New 10.5-1 Engine 62mm turbo 800 hp Dyno Jet
2150cc injectors- just been cleaned E 85
Aem Ems Version 1
30,000 Miles on stock Sensors
Spoolin up cop

Problem is that the car wont rev past 5000 rpms and hits a 2 step .. It starts at about 4000 rpms and tops at 5,000. Also wont stay idleing on its own with out holding gas pedel down.
Tried-
Checked timing belt.
New plugs
tried different COp
No boost leaks

Things I am thinking... crank sensor or cam sensor GOING bad... Aem rem limits are not set that low so it cant be that...

Thanks in advance

I had a very similar issue to this. My problem was with the MAF sensor wiring being cut. As soon as it was fixed, the issue went away.
I say check the MAF sensor components

Do you have a reason why the IAC Valve would casue the car to rev only to 5000 and stop on a 2 step ?

The first thing I would do is disable the 2step in AEM and see if that's the case, than chase down what's what if that works.

Often times something like this can be as silly as how the 2 step is set up, or there is something that is making the ECU think it should enable the 2 step at all times.

For instance on another car I've tuned, there was no wheel speed sensor input cause the traction control system was disabled (removed), so the ECU never saw wheel speed, so it always thought the car was ready to be launched, even though you were driving.

It was a coil setting in the ECU. Im not sure how that got changed.

Baaazinga my friend!... its always something silly like that, experience has taught me when something stupid happens like this, always check the tuning first before looking at parts....
I've learned the hard way
