Did I blow my turbo?
Yes I've searched. Didn't find any specific info about my situation.
So I blew my radiator the other week and my intercooler piping and intercooler were bent in the fender bender. My question is if I drove the car around 2 miles without coolant would that blow the turbo? I put everything back together, new radiator, and re used the bent piping and intercooler until I have money to get a new one. The symptoms that make me think I blew it are that it isn't boosting more than 1.2 bar. So around 17 psi. Or do you think that it is the intercooler piping being bent that is causing it to not boost as high?
Thanks in advance!

Mitsu turbos
From time to time, people ask if turbo timers are needed on Evos. Since our ( and most other ) turbos are both cooled by oil and coolant, TT's are not needed. If you ran the turbo without coolant, the oil by itself should provide enough cooling to prevent damage to the turbo. As far as the loss of boost, you may have a crack in your FMIC, or a boost leak some where else. If you lost enough coolant that you think your turbo is toast..I would be more worried about warping your head.

boost leak check for sure. if ur radiator was damaged, you also have to check out your fmic & pipes/couplers.
c if your w/g didnt get tweaked & the lines to the w/g r ok as well as your boost controler, etc.
how bad are the lines bent?

They are ovals and squares now on the right front passenger piping and intercooler. Also the intercooler is crushed a little. If it was cracked, wouldn't it not hold boost at all? I am going to change out the intercooler and piping. Do you guys have any recommendations since I will be upgrading?
I was looking into the ETS core's or maybe just a decent ebay core. Not sure how much funds I have to spend.
Thanks for the input guys, this is a great forum and I look forward to getting deep into it when I start modding more!

If your FMIC is bent at all then you have a leak. You can still build boost with a leak. Your car is probably running a tad rich as well because of the leak. You can pick up a used oem fmic for around $100. Most good FMIC from vendors are quite a bit more. If you plan on modifying your car then i would deff just get an aftermarket one. I would stick with any of the vendors, FMIC is defiantly something you get what you pay for
