Angry Major Problems!

If anyone can help, I would be greatly appreciative.
The problem is as follows. To start with, i have checked all lines and hoses and all seem to be good. With that said, car just seems to be dead. When i give it any gas at all it just bogs down and sputters really bad. This is intermittent however as it will do this for a few seconds then the power will kick in but immediately start acting up again. After awhile of driving, the car feels like it barely has enough power to even leave from a stoplight.

There aren't any mods to the car and i just changed the plugs a few weeks ago. Had my local tuner update the ecu with the most up to date factory settings and the car ran fine for a couple weeks then just went downhill from there. Starting to get frustrated guys so please, HELP! Also SES light is on and throwing the P0401 code, check the vacuum lines and their good.

Clogged injectors? Bad fuel pump? Sounds like a fuel problem to me

It is in limp-mode most likely due to a massive boost leak. Have you done a pressurized boost leak test? Simply inspecting hoses and intercooler couplings will not cut it. You need to put 25 psi on it and start listening for leaks.

I have had my IC coupling to the throttle body pop off on-track. The car immediately goes to limp mode and will not take any throttle, seems to hit ingition cut at like 1500 RPM's in this mode.

I know this might seem silly but check ALL of your intercooler piping. One hose not connected will give these exact symptoms.

check your intake too, i had a problem with the stock beehive screen in the MAF popping off and causing similar symptoms, so i removed it. while you're checking all your couplers and pipes etc, also check the egr lines and any other line that may be loose around the intake mani

I would not remove the beehive screen for the maf.

I also suggest performing a boost leak test.

This sounds like a "bov vented to the atmosphere" comment

Can you give a good reason why not, most people remove them on most cars not just EVO's

been in the evo game since 05, not retarded. i know my way around an evo, and how to prevent minor problems. it's a screen to "smooth out airflow" our cars run fine without it, do some research,... this is nothing close to a VTA/ recirc'd bov argument. obviously not everyone will have this problem, but it can be an issue.

I had to laugh when I learned that there is a TSB out on the intake coming loose and sucking up to the hood. So, this has happened enough to catch the attention of the factory. Anyway, check that the intake to the air box is isn't missing fasteners.

BTW, the 401 code usually means a vacuum hose is off under the throttle body.

Yah if you are on stock airbox check the fastners. Also I would check your MAF also check your IC you could have a crack in it. Not only do a boost leak test try a smoke test as well.

If all that checks out you could do an EGR delete if you are still having code issues. Or you EGR valve and or selinoid could be bad or both. Just a few more suggestions.

Fuel pressure regulator hose. My car had the same issues when that hose was cracked but of course the boost leak test discovered that for me. Sometimes a vacuum line will not make a sound when it is letting out air. I didnt hear any hissing on the line from my FPR, but felt the air with my hand
