Samco Hose Kit, Is It Worth It?

I was thinking of upgrading the factory rubber hoses to the Samco 7 piece kit. Would I notice any difference? Do the Samco hoses expand alot under high boost? Or should I spend the extra $300+ for the hard pipe kit?
This is directed to anybody who has the 7 piece EVO VIII kit. Are you happy with your purchase?

Well I don't see much of a gain over factory but I would think the quility of the hoses would be much greater then the factory units.

Bling factor is there.

What I do know is....The OEM tubing sucks! Go check it out next time you are on a dyno. They swell up to about 130% of their original size at WOT!

I agree with Secret Chimp. Just throw the car in neutral and open the throttle plate by hand. Watch your stock tubing expand like a balloon, it's crazy. I seriously doubt the silicone expands like that.

Save your money and go with a hardpipe kit. You get some hp increases and more bling in the engine bay. I seriously doubt there are many Evo owners with this. They are really big with the WRX folks though

mine are on the way from lancer shop, (thanks guys!). the stock hoses do indeed swell like crazy! the hard pipe kit still has some hoses in it... it has to. silicone will not swell under boost and do not transfer heat. i think the samco hoses are the way to go, that's why i bought 'em. don't think you'd see any big diff. in dyno # though, but maybe some w/less heat transfer and shape consistancy.
just my 2c

More boost has nothing to do with piping and hoses it has to do with fuel delivery. The more you turn up the boost the leaner your car will run.

I'VE GOT SAMCO HOSES!!!!

And I'm not impressed. They're red, thats about all I can say about them. I got them as a gift. I would be really pissed if I paid what they cost.

From what I've been TOLD, the stock hoses flex alot under boost where the Samco's do not. And this is supposed help reduce lag and hold the boost better???

Like I said, I would not be a happy camper if I paid $$ for them. And they were a pain in the *** to put on. Save your money for something worth while, like a mail-flash from Al for less money and get BIG results.

^lol.....that's amusing

I don't have them, but I would save your money for the hardpipe kit. IMHO; silicon may be better than stock, but hardpipe is better than both. That's what I'm doing.
